Legal office receives recommendation for suspension of six erring employees
CEBU, Philippines - The recommendation of Mandaue City treasurer Regal Oliva to suspend his six employees after they were found using the VIP room of an entertainment bar in the Reclamation Area while they were out on official business Sunday has been endorsed to the city legal office.
City legal officer Giovanni Tianero yesterday said he has also formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the complaint filed against the employees by their superior.
However, Tianero said that on the surface, the breach could only be considered simple misconduct which is tantamount to a month and one day to six months of suspension from work and if committed for the second time, they would be dismissed from service.
Oliva earlier recommended that the six employees be subjected to an administrative and disciplinary action after learning that his men had a few beers inside a VIP room of the Bulldog KTV Bar Sunday.
The employees were members of the monitoring team of the treasurer’s office tasked to inspect all entertainment and KTV bars in the city to determine how much amusement tax and occupational tax should be imposed on them and whether these firms have business permits.
Earlier, Oliva recommended that they be suspended for five days but he will leave it to the city legal office to decide on the exact number of days. – (FREEMAN)
