CEBU, Philippines - The Theft and Robbery Section of the Mandaue City Police Office is looking for the habal-habal driver who allegedly took the bag of a woman who died in a traffic accident Sunday evening along Jayme Street in barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

PO1 Jerry Gasgonia said three witnesses saw Renato Llenes, of legal age, and a resident of Zone Sibuyas, Paknaan as the one who took the bag of Victoria Canoy which contained P50,000 and a cellular phone.

The Toyota van which the Canoy family was traveling in last Sunday on their way home collided with a BMW car driven by Jessie Joel De Manuel of Consolacion town.

Based on witnesses’ accounts, bystanders helped pull out victims Carmelito Canoy, driver of the Toyota van, and his daughter Nina from the vehicle, leaving behind Canoy’s wife who died upon impact.

Both De Manuel and Canoy and his daughter were all taken to hospital for injuries while Victoria died on the spot.

Witnesses also saw Llenes at the crime scene taking away the bag.

Llenes later turned the bag over to the barangay hall but its contents missing.

The dead victim’s sister, Luzviminda Tarreon, then sought police assistance.

The suspect’s father told police his son did not come home last Sunday. (FREEMAN)
