CEBU, Philippines - The office of sixth district representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing will make sure that victims of cybersex get enough assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Quisumbing said these victims are more likely to be traumatized and therefore must be properly guided to protect their future.
The solon and Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy are discussing ways on how to solve the problem.
When Congress opens next week, Quisumbing will sponsor a resolution that would seek a congressional inquiry into the ill effects of cyber pornography on victims, especially on minors.
The proposed resolution will ask national politicians, concerned agencies, and technical experts on what recourse needs to be done to stop cybersex.
"It is time to involve the national politicians in the irradication of this act especially when it comes to protecting innocent children," Quisumbing said.
He said cybersex does not only happen in Cordova town but also in some other places in the country where there are internet access and strong internet connections. - THE FREEMAN
