Talisay police station relies on one vehicle
CEBU, Philippines - Apart from being undermanned, the another problem that besets the Talisay City Police Station is the lack of service vehicles.
Three of its four vehicles are being repaired.
Chief Inspector Eddie Recamara, the station's officer-in-charge, said presently only the Innova patrol car is running, the two Terranos and a multicab were sent to the city's motorpool for repairs.
However most PNP personnel have motorbikes which are utilized to patrol the streets, Recamara said.
But only the Innova responds to alarms, Recamara said.
Having only one vehicle hampers the station's operations because Talisay is a big city, he said.
But despite this weakness, Recamara, who assumed office early May, said the station is doing its best to be of help to the public.
Recamara said he already has aired this concern to the city hall.
Last year department heads during their regular meeting agreed to dispose of the city's dilapidated vehicles because of their high maintenance cost.
Among those suggested for disposal were the two Terranos which were purchased second-hand by the city in 2006 yet. (FREEMAN)
