Witness arrested

CEBU, Philippines - A man who has become a witness to a rape case involving a 19-year-old call center agent was arrested Friday at his home on the strength of a warrant of arrest for theft.

The rape was committed Tuesday in Alinsug Street, barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

IDMB deputy chief  P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said Joselito Alintol, 30, married, of barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City was one of the witnesses who gave the police information regarding the rape.

Alintol told police that prior to the incident, he sat beside two men on a bench near his apartment.

"Base sa testimony of accounts ni Alintol nga kining duha ka suspek nagtapad niya ug lingkod apan iyang gipasibog kay malagsikan sila ug tubig sa taxi kay nag-uwan niadtong tungora," Morpos said.

Morpos said that when Alintol's name popped up in the course of the investigation, a warrant server of the Basak police station then remembered about the warrant issued by Judge Carlos Fernando of branch 2 of the MTCC in Mandaue City for Alintol.

Alintol is now detained at the Basak police station.

He will be appear before the sala of Fernando on Monday.  (FREEMAN)
