Aboitiz foundation rewires another school in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - The Tipolo Elementary School in Mandaue City is the latest school to benefit from the rewiring program of the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the city government. 

A simple turn-over ceremony was held yesterday morning at the school, which was attended by top officials of the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and the Visayan Electric Company, the Department of Education, and the city government of Mandaue headed by Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede.

Ricardo Lacson, Jr., vice president for administration and customer service group of the Aboitiz-owned Visayan Electric Company (VECO), said the rewiring of the electrical connections of the school was a priority of the foundation.

A number of public elementary schools in Mandaue City have also availed the same program, it being part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the company.

Aside from rewiring, the foundation also constructs school buildings.

Lacson said education is the number one priority of the foundation in Mandaue City.

Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, representing Mayor Jonas Cortes, said VECO supports the city government by building classrooms and rewiring schools.

City School Division Superintendent Virginia Zapanta said VECO also supports the department by helping improve the quality education in the city.

Barangay officials in Tipolo and the Parents Teachers Community Association expressed their gratitude to the management of VECO for selecting Tipolo Elementary School as a beneficiary of its rewiring program. (FREEMAN)
