CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government will continue its cleanliness and beautification drive, this time with help from barangay officials and the private sector.
"We can start by keeping our city clean. Atong limpyohan atong tugkaran," Mayor Paz Radaza said.
As an island-city, Mayor Radaza said it is surrounded by water.
"Our tourism is hinged on the beauty of our waters. We must join hands in protecting our marine resources," she said.
The Lapu-Lapu City Solid Waste Management Office has been tasked to implement the ordinance on cleanliness, garbage collection, and environmental protection.
Last month, some barangay captains were fined for their failure to collect the garbage in their respective places.
Some barangay captains also failed to stop the dumping of garbage.
"Kining kampanya nato sa pagpanglimpyo, dili kini mahimo kon kami ra nga mga opisyal, kon dili nanginahanglan usab kami sa tabang sa tanang katawhan," Radaza said. (FREEMAN)
