Tests reveal fecal organisms in water sources in sitio in Talisay
CEBU, Philippines - Some sources of potable water in sitio Campinsa, Manipis, Talisay City, were found to be positive of fecal organism as tests conducted by the Cebu Provincial Health Office show.
Based on the water analysis report released last Monday and signed by Yvonne Cariñosa, provincial medical technologist, water samples taken from "Tuong Tingbanan," FVSP Cooperative and "Improve Spring," all of which are from Campinsa, show "infinite" number of fecal organisms in them.
It was not clear whether residents get their drinking water from the sources of these samples, but Councilor Danny Caballero, member of council committee on Environment, said he will raise this concern to the council on Tuesday. He said he will also talk to city health officer Lino Alanzado about the findings.
"Aksyunan dayun ta na kay basin og mao nay source of potable water sa mga tawo, dakong disgrasya. Kalibanga ug uban pang sakit ang pwede makuha ana, dako na hinuong problema," said Caballero.
Caballero said the problem could be traced to the lack of proper toilets in areas like Campinsa.
He said he will talk to Mayor Socrates Fernandez to appeal for such facilities for Campinsa.
The place is about 15 kilometers from the city proper or about 40 minutes of rough ride as the road going there is steep and unpaved.
According to the 2,000 or so residents who live in the area, city officials would only remember them during the political campaign period. –
