Police in Talisay arrest 2 robbers

-

CEBU, Philippines - Two of the five robbery suspects one of which was alleged to have stabbed a mini bus conductor last Wednesday in barangay Linao were arrested by the police in Talsiay City.

The first to fall was Gerald Parame, 23, of barangay Pooc.

He was arrested the other day in barangay Bulacao, just hours after the incident. When frisked, the man yielded a small sachet containing what the police believed was shabu.

Parame's alleged cohort Gerald Dungog alias "Jay," a resident of barangay Lawaan II, meanwhile, was accosted yesterday dawn in barangay Tabunok.

Their three other companions, one of whom was their leader named "Brian," are still at large as of press time.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by the police, the suspects were already on board the mini bus bound for Cebu City.

Bus conductor Epifanio Calledo, 44, of Sibonga town, said the men could have been irked when he refused to accept their fare because it was short of a few pesos.

When they got off from the bus in Talisay, Calledo alleged that Parame stabbed him in his abdomen.

Calledo sustained a stab wound in the right part of his abdomen.

He was taken to the government-run Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

But before he was stabbed, the men had already robbed Dosil Jeanet Tiunayan, 34, of Velpal Subdivision, barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla who claimed that the suspects took her two mobile phones worth P6,200, P190 and a bottle of perfume.

Tiunayan also sustained wounds in his hands and feet after a brief struggle with the robbers.

Chief Inspector Eddie Recamara said the two arrested suspects were notorious robbers and that Dungog is under probation at the Talisay City Jail. – THE FREEMAN
