CEBU, Philippines- The Mandaue City government has initially started the preliminary assessment and locational clearance (PALCE) of the 6.5 hectare lot relocation site of the urban poor settlers of the city who are living in danger zones.
Just recently, a team from the Pagtambayayong Inc., led by Engr. Paula Enriquez, visited the proposed relocation site to conduct a preliminary assessment and locational clearance of the place before the actual plotting of the lot for the beneficiaries.
Housing and Urban Development Office chief Emmanuel Arong said a technical working group is now in place with whom Mayor Jonas Cortes has tasked to oversee the construction of road openings, drainage, and to provide electricity and water in the area.
The relocation site which is located in barangay Paknaan near the Cansaga bridge can accommodate a total of 1,200 urban poor settlers who are living near the danger areas of the city specifically those living near the Mahiga Creek.
Beneficiaries can avail of the lot through a community mortgage program (CMP) of the national government.
The lot will be purchased by the Social Home Mortgage Finance Corporation from its real owner Dennis Lua at P2,000 per square meter wherein the beneficiaries will be paying its monthly amortization for 25 years at a low interest rate.
