"Tow-impound" rule keeps traffic flowing

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza is happy a week after the tow-impound ordinance was enforced.

Radaza said the ordinance is necessary to rid the streets of stalled and illegally parked vehicles.

She is also pleased with the performance of towing company "One Stop Towing Services."

Under the ordinance, owners of towed vehicles with a gross weight of less than 12,000 lbs. during the daytime will pay P1,500. After 6 p.m., the fine becomes P2,000.

Vehicles with a gross weight of 12,000 lbs. or more, would be fined P2,500 and during nighttime, P3,500.

The impounding fee shall be computed daily, as follows: for motorists, first day P100, succeeding days P50.

For light vehicles, first day P300, succeeding days, P500.

For vehicles with gross weight of 12,000 lbs. or more - first day P500 while succeeding days, P300. — THE FREEMAN
