Consolacion arrest 7 men for illegal fishing

CEBU, Philippines- Consolacion town wasn't kidding when it said it was putting its foot down on illegal fishing.

The town's Bantay Dagat, organized by Mayor Teresa Alegado and presently headed by Cosme Tomongha, recently arrested seven persons for using illegal means to catch fish in Cansaga Bay.

The fishermen were informed of their infractions and taken to the Consolacion police for investigation.

After they were reprimanded and informed of the regulations governing the area, they were released.

Fishermen who are residents of barangay Tayud who were released were Florencio Jaberto Sr., Simplicio Lao, Lym Galisao, Jonas Malonjao, Roger Garbo, Maria Cascona, and Danilo Pepito.
