CEBU, Philippines - Starting May 16, the Lapu-Lapu City government will enforce the tow-impound ordinance which targets stalled and illegally parked motor vehicles and its attachments, including motorcycles in any public road or street.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza made the announcement the other day during her scheduled inspection of police sub-stations in barangays Mactan and Pusok.
Private towing company "One Stop Towing Services," the same company hired by the Cebu City government, would do the job.
The city council approved the ordinance last month.
Under the ordinance, owners of towed vehicles with gross weight of less than 12,000 lbs. during the daytime will pay P1,500. However, after 6 p.m., it is P2,000.
Vehicles with gross weight of 12,000 lbs. or more, would pay P2,500 and during nighttime, P3,500.
The impounding fee shall be computed daily, as follows: for motorists, first day P100, succeeding days P50.
For light vehicles, first day P300, succeeding days, P500.
For vehicles with gross weight of 12,000 lbs or more – first day P500 while succeeding days, P300. - THE FREEMAN
