Talisay recognizes health workers

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government has adapted Republic Act No. 10069 or an Act Declaring May 7 of each year as Health Workers' Day.

This move is in cognizant with the recently approved city council resolution authored by Councilor Choy Aznar, chairman on council committee on Health.

"Community health workers are dedicated individuals who function along a continuum ranging from individual and communal development to service delivery promoting community improvement and social justice.

They often link people to needed health care information and services," read the resolution.

RA 10069, approved by the 14h Congress, is a special working holiday to give recognition to all public and public health workers all over the country.

Aznar said the city government "is upholding the legacy of service" where community health workers being basic health providers "must be recognized for their immense accomplishment." - THE FREEMAN
