Fireworks to mark end of Mandaue fiesta celebration

CEBU, Philippines - A grand fireworks display that will cost almost a million pesos will close the Mandaue City's fiesta celebration on May 8 at the vacant lot of Parkmall at the North Reclamation Area.

The event will be sponsored by both the Dragon Fireworks and the Mandaue City Fiesta Committee.

Jonathan Gesalem, the sales marketing director of Dragon Fireworks has named the display as "the Symphony of Fires."

Gesalem said the eight-minute fireworks will exactly start at 10 p.m. on May 8.

Of the budget, P300 thousand will go to the preparation of the stage, two bands, sounds, and light effects.

Assistant city treasurer Regal Oliva said this year's city fiesta has a budget of P6.8 million, P4 Million of which comes from the city government. The rest came from the private sector and from some fund-raising activities.

As of yesterday, the fiesta committee had already spent P3.6 million. — THE FREEMAN
