CEBU, Philippines - Consolacion town unloaded garbage Tuesday in the 6.9-hectare private sanitary landfill in barangay Polog, signaling the start of the dump's operation.
Asian EnergySystems Corporation, Renewable Energy Company president Cipriano Abdon and Rene Bande, president for operations, witnessed the ceremonial dumping of garbage.
With them were Mayor Teresa Alegado,Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole and members of the municipal council.
Abdon told The FREEMAN he is happy to see Consolacion start dumping garbage.
Abdon said he also expects other local government units and private companies to follow suit.
The FREEMAN has learned that Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and other city officials had visited the sanitary landfill.
The Cebu City government is facing problems with garbage collection in view of the closure of the dump in barangay Inayawan.
