- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Additional charges will be filed against a son of a barangay Jagobiao councilor who was arrested Tuesday for possession of the drug nubain and for driving without a license in barangay Tawason, Mandaue City.

Genyl Valencia and Ivan Yap, both residents of barangay Jagobiao, were arrested at a checkpoint in the interior portion of barangay Tawason.

The two men were on different motorcycles when arrested.

When frisked, Valencia allegedly yielded an ampule of unconsumed nubain while a syringe was seized from Yap who later admitted both of them had just injected the drug.

On the same day, a 29-year-old Korean national went to the Intelligence and Detec-tive Management Bureau (IDMB) and positively identified Valencia as the man who snatched her bag as she was about to enter her rented house in barangay Banilad Tuesday dawn.

Youn Soo Bin, earlier reported to the Casuntingan police station that at around 2:30 dawn last Tuesday, she was dropped by her boyfriend after having night out along the roadside in barangay Banilad.

However, just as she was about to open the door of her rented house, a man onboard a motorcycle got off, approached her, and grabbed her bag.

She said she even sustained injuries in both her knees as she and the man held a tug-of-war with the bag, which contained two phones worth P40,000, credit cards, and P20,000.

IDMB chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said the Korean national is really bent on filing charges against Valencia.

Meanwhile, eighteen small plastic sachets and one medium size plastic sachet believed to contain shabu were seized from a 35-year-old man in sitio Lacakaron, barangay Pitalo, San Fernando Cebu last Tuesday.

Joel Gentica, 35, married, and a resident of barangay Inuburan, Naga City was arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation at about 7:20 p.m. of April 26.

Police Inspector Dexter Bacirgo and other policemen from the San Fernando police station recovered the marked money used in the operation.

Police Inspector Carlos C. Reyes, San Fernando chief of police, said the seized shabu could command more or less P10,400 in the streets.

He said Gentica was under surveillance for about a month.
