Judge robbed

-

CEBU, Philippines - A judge residing in barangay San Isidro, Talisay City lost P40,000 worth of items in a burglary that took place at around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 24 presiding Judge Olegario Sarmiento of Branch 24 told police he lost an Acer laptop worth P30,000, a Nokia cellphone that cost P5,000, and a Samsung karaoke player valued at P6,000.

PO1 Jundave David, who is investigating the case, said the back door was opened to gain entry into house while the Sarmientos were away.

David said they tried to be all over the city during the weekend but there's just not enough policemen.

"Gamay ra kaayo mi, dako kaayo ang Talisay," he said.

He however said there were only four cases of break-ins during the last two days, Thursday and Friday, compared to the past years.

Meanwhile, David said the Talisay City Police Station's hotline 273-3636 has been temporarily "hanged up" due to numerous prank calls.

Police is now using its back-up number 2728872.
