Dump truck apprehended for violation of waste law

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The Traffic Enforcement Agency Management (TEAM) impounded a dump truck Friday morning for discharging wastes in one of the street corners in Mandaue City, a violation of the local ecological and solid waste ordinance.

Its driver, Frank Gamba, was issued a citation ticket in violation of city ordinance no.10-2006-372 known as the Local Ecological and Solid Waste Ordinance.

The ordinance imposes a fine of P500.

The dump truck is allegedly owned by a contractor of the ongoing construction of the Colonnade Mall located at the city's old public market.

Placido Jerusalem, head of the city's Solid Waste Management team, said the dump truck will only be released after the owner has paid the penalty.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
