One more robbed in crime-prone sitio Mananga 2

-

CEBU, Philippines - A day after the city council agreed to construct a police outpost in the area, another person was robbed in sitio Mananga 2, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City dawn the other day.

Anne Jelly Pagayanan, 19, a resident of barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town, told police six unidentified men took her two mobile phones, school ID, and an exam permit at 3 a.m. while on board a south-bound multicab.

Pagayanan, who was crying while recounting the incident, said she was on her way home after attending a party and on board a multicab bound for Naga.

They were near a shopping mall in barangay Tabunok when a child, believed to be around 12 years old, hailed the multicab driven by Domingo Tapia.

The child told the driver to stop the vehicle in sitio Mananga 2.

Believing that the child would get off the multicab, Tapia stopped the vehicle.

When he did so, six men, all of whom wore bonnets, quickly boarded the multicab, one of them pointed a gun at Tapia and ordered him not rev his vehicle.

The suspects then grabbed Pagayanan's bag and left.

Police believed the child was an accomplice.

Based on initial investigation, the robbers could be from neighboring Minglanilla town and had chosen to commit a crime in sitio Mananga 2 because the area being densely populated is the robbers' favorite hiding place.

This is the same place where PO1 William Mangubat was shot dead by criminals he was chasing.

Three days ago, the city council approved minority Councilor Val Ylanan's proposal to build a police outpost in sitio Mananga 2. This after it was noted that the area has become crime-prone. (FREEMAN)
