CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Police Office launched its Task Force Motorsiklo with a motorcade yesterday morning.
Task Force Motorsiklo is comprised of 12 police officers riding tandem, also known as the "buddy system, in six motorcycles, recently donated by the Mandaue City government.
MCPO director Noel Gillamac said the 12 police officers will be in two shifts.
Officers assigned in the first shift would patrol and respond to alarms from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. while officers in the other shift will work from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Gillamac said the task force can make the police more efficient since they can quickly respond to alarms without having to worry so much about the traffic.
The task force has also to watch over the city's vital installations.
Police Regional Office-7 Chief of Staff P Sr./Supt Josephus Angan who was yesterday's guest of honor said the creation of the task force is a concrete example of a good relationship that exists between the PNP and the Local government unit.
Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede said the city government will still provide more vehicles to MCPO.
Meanwhile, Gillamac yesterday urged robbery and burglary victims to come to their office and file complaints.
He said this would negate the perception that the police have done nothing to solve these crimes.
Gillamac said the police have suspects but victims most often don't lose interest in filing cases.
