Freeman Metro Cebu

NGO to help highway patrol discipline drivers

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - A Mandaue City-based Non-Governmental Organization has assured the Police Regional Highway Patrol Unit in Central Visayas of assistance in the campaign against abusive drivers in Metro Cebu.

Joseph Oliver Wenceslao, president of the Communication Response on Enforcement and Welfare on the Street made the promise after he and Police Senior Superintendent Felixberto Castillo, representing Police Regional Highway Patrol Unit in Central Visayas, had signed a memorandum of agreement.

Wenceslao said most of the members of his organization live in Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu City, Talisay City, and Consolacion.

Wenceslao said the members are willing to utilize their resources in helping the highway patrol group go after abusive drivers.

Castillo earlier said the highway patrol will tap the services of the Wenceslao group not only against abusive drivers but also help prevent cars from being stolen.

It was learned that some stolen vehicles from other provinces had been brought to Cebu to be sold.

In his message, Castillo said they recognize CREWS, as one of its force multiplier, who shall work hand in hand with the Highway Patrol group in the performance of its mandated task as guardian of the highways. (FREEMAN)
