Man dies after head gets struck with rock

CEBU, Philippines - A 32-year-old man met his untimely death when a man he was drinking with slammed his head with a rock dawn yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Jimmy Bocboc, 32, married, a resident of Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City. A certain Luciano Munez found Bocboc's body at a vacant lot near the latter's residence around 6am yesterday. Munez was reportedly cutting some Ipil-Ipil branches at that time.

Initial investigation of the homicide police revealed that Bocboc was drinking with four men last Friday night - Dennis Borlasa, Mario Munuez, Ike Munuez and a certain Ondo - when a heated argument ensued. Two minors who reportedly witnessed the incident said the four allegedly took turns in mauling Bocboc until one of them got hold of a big rock and slammed the victim's head with it.

The witnesses said the incident occurred around midnight, which means it was only after about five hours that Bocboc's body was found.

The victim's remains now lie at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor in Lapu-Lapu City. An autopsy will be conducted on the body. Authorities are now pursuing the suspects who are allegedly now into hiding. (FREEMAN)
