Dead man ID'd

CEBU, Philippines - The man found dead in a secluded area in sitio Suba-Panas, barangay Suba- Basbas, Lapu-Lapu City Friday has already identified.

The man was identified as Gilbert Gedayawan, 26, a native of Bantayan Island and temporarily residing in barangay Kalawisan.

He was missing for five days before he was found by a resident who was about to relieve himself near where the body was found.

Teodulo Casul, the resident who found the victim immediately called the police.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rolito Jumao-as of the Homicide Section said the body was already decomposing when found.

The body was taken to Rolling Hills Funeral Parlor in Mandaue City for autopsy.

The dead man's father, Jesus, said his son had told him he was to visit some friends in barangay Marigondon.

Jesus Gedayawan said he had waited until morning for his son to show up.

A niece has asked him to identify a dead man found lying in a secluded area in barangay Suba-Basbas.

Jesus said he was dumbstruck when he saw the dead man.

The autopsy showed the younger Gedayawan died from stab wounds.

PO1 Franklin Bulaquia of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) told The FREEMAN the police is on the case.
