Fraternity member arrested for robbery
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged member of Tau Gamma Phi fraternity was arrested after he and his two unidentified companions robbed a man of his Portable Playstation worth P14,000 at the vicinity of University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue Campus yesterday morning.
Elements of Opao Police Station cornered Rudylyn Anislagon alias "Terio," 20,single, resident of Sitio Pukang, Barangay Looc, Mandaue City at his house and confiscated from him a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunitions.
The suspect, a notorious robber in his barangay, allegedly tried to resist arrest by pointing the revolver at the police officers but the latter quickly subdued and handcuffed him.
A certain Jomar Dublas reported to the Opao Police Station that while he and girlfriend were walking at the vicinity of the University of Cebu at about 4 a.m., Anislagon together with two unidentified companions suddenly approached them and collared him. Anislagon then allegedly grabbed his PSP worth P14,000 and hurriedly left the place.
Dublas was able to identify Anislagon as one of the suspects through the rouge gallery of criminals at the police station.
Immediately after, Opao Police Station chief, Insp. Wilson Abot and his men proceeded to the house of Anislagon to arrest him.
Abot said Anislagon, who used to be the leader of a robbery gang in Barangay Looc, had been detained at the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.
He got involved in series of taxi robberies in Mandaue City and was arrested and detained at the Mandaue City Jail.
While Anislagon did not claim that the gun taken from him was planted, he denied owning it, saying it was not in his hands when the police came to arrest him.
The police is still conducting a follow-up operation for the possible arrest of the suspect's cohorts. (FREEMAN)
