MANILA, Philippines — Approximately P20.7 billion worth of illegal drugs was confiscated in anti-narcotics operations conducted by the Philippine National Police in 2024, PNP chief Rommel Francisco Marbil announced yesterday.

According to Marbil, the drug haul represents an increase of 101 percent compared to the total drug seizures in 2023.

Up to 46,821 anti-narcotics operations were conducted nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 57,129 suspects.

The PNP said the “bloodless” war on drugs is focused on high-value suspects and adhere to human rights principles and due process.

“This achievement is a testament to our focused operations against high-value targets in the illegal drug trade,” Marbil said.

Over eight metric tons of illegal drugs were confiscated this year, nearly two MT higher than the drugs seized in 2023.

The haul included methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and ketamine.

“Our commitment to a calibrated anti-drug campaign, which puts a premium on human rights, has proven that we can dismantle drug rings without the unnecessary loss of life,” Marbil pointed out.

Calabarzon recorded the biggest drug haul with P9.9 billion followed by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group with P2.4 billion.
