The Ripple

MANILA, Philippines - Scarves? There’s a bar for that. Burberry takes one timeless product — evolving it from its iconic check print, creating new colorways and densities — and makes it ever more appealing to the options-driven generation. Made of 100 percent cashmere at a 200-year old mill in the Scottish countryside (the process is mesmerizing to watch, more so in the HD video playing over at the Burberry boutique in Greenbelt 4, I’m calling it “mill porn”), the Burberry scarf is as much a must-have now as it was then. The “house check,” that ubiquitous plaid print has gone from status symbol to casually cool, which is actually ideal — a sign of society’s changing attitudes towards luxury, in that a truly sophisticated look must never look contrived or perfectly put-together. Frayed edges add character. Why do you think Burberry fluffs its scarves with thistle?

Visit the Burberry Scarf Bar, which carries 33 colors bespoke for Burberry. In the Philippines, Burberry is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc., located in Greenbelt 4.
