Black’s sabbath

MANILA, Philippines - Martin Bautista’s new collection is an antidote to our current state of mind and a stand against the shackles of structured, rigid dressing. He plays with color with nonchalance and creates fluid shapes that hang loosely on the body. “It’s about time women embraced their obsession with candy-colored pinks and lemon yellows. I just feel like women today have gotten so sharp and strict with the way they dress. It frustrates me that color and happiness can’t be cool and chic. So what moved me to create the collection was shifting to something pure, happy and light. There is a longing for something free and frivolous,” he said. Even his encounters with blacks and whites have a free, feminine spirit to them. Those who have had just about enough of normcore and affected coolness, rejoice. Here is color’s sweet revenge. — Chonx Tibajia
