Turn up the heat

Who says you can’t wear makeup at the beach? Here’s how you can look effortlessly sexy and totally H-O-T round-the-clock.

#WakeUpCall

MANILA, Philippines - Sunny mornings are the best time to show off your natural beauty, but this doesn’t mean you have to go out completely bare-faced. Start by applying moisturizer (with at least SPF30, of course!) and pat on a color correcting concealer over the spots where you need more coverage. To score brighter eyes, curl your lashes and add a thin coat of waterproof mascara. “Gently wiggle the wand from side-to-side when applying for a more natural effect,” says John Pagaduan, internationally-accredited Shu Uemura makeup artist. Finish by dabbing some a tinted balm for kiss-worthy lips.
TRY: Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate, P890; Majolica Majorca Lash King, P850; Maybelline Baby Lips Loves Color Collection, P92 each.

#SkinnyDipping

Going for a midday swim? The good news is makeup brands are upping their game with new formulas, so you can look flawless even if you get soaked. To cop this look, you need three things: 1) a sunscreen that contains foundation to even out your skin, 2) a waterproof eyebrow enhancer to define your arches, and 3) a bright, long-lasting lippy. Of course, if you just plan on wearing shades the whole time, then save yourself the trouble. Just slather on your fave sunscreen and slick on a striking lip color and you’re done!

TRY: Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation, P1,750; K-Palette 1-Day Lasting Tattoo Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner, P795; MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger, P1,000.

#Lounging

Watching a killer sunset during happy hour is always a lot of fun, so do take advantage of that vibe by playing around with your look. Ditch predictable washes of gold over your lids and apply a pop of color over your lids instead. Just line your eyes with a vibrant hue such as turquoise or purple and make sure that you stay as close to your lashline as possible, so it’s not too over-the-top. Tip: Try a long-lasting cream shadow, so it’ll stay put despite the humidity. Then, enhance your sunskissed flush by sticking to fresh, peachy-pink hues for your lips and cheeks.

TRY: Make Up For Ever HD Blush Second Skin Cream Blush in 210, P1,800, Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald, P379; MAC Mineralized Lipstick in Style Surge, P1,460.

#PartyMode

If you only have a few minutes to prep before going to the next seaside fiesta, there’s no need for you to build your makeup look from scratch. Simply use your fingers to pat more of the same colored, cream eyeshadow over your lids. Want more drama? Create a subtle, smokey effect by lightly blending a hint of black shadow over the outer corners of your eyes. Then, balance out heavy eyes by dusting powder bronzer over all the areas where the sun would naturally hit your face (over the bridge of your nose, the center of your forehead, your cheekbones, and chin) and applying a natural-toned lipstick.

TRY: Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Charcoal P1,200; Smashbox Bronze Lights in Sunkissed, P1,500; ZA Total Hydration BB Cream UV White, P425.
