A zit-banishing clay mask that is dirt-cheap

MANILA, Philippines - I’ve been staying up later than usual and haven’t had time to hit up my dermatologist/miracle worker, so my skin has been spottier than usual. Thankfully, I have this ginormous tub of Aztec Indian Healing Clay aka the “World’s Most Powerful Facial” for such occasions. I ordered mine on Amazon, but you can find it at Healthy Options for less than P500, which is extremely reasonable, considering that the jar is probably going to last me until I’m 30. And no, it won’t expire because it’s in powder form, so you take out what you need (half a teaspoon for your entire face) and mix with water (for normal/dry skin) or raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (for combination/oily skin; I use Bragg’s, also from Healthy Options), then apply all over your face. As the back of the label promises, yes, you will feel your face pulsate! That’s because the main ingredient of the mask is bentonite clay, which absorbs up to 180 times its own weight. I had a particularly gnarly breakout on my forehead earlier this week, so I spread the mask half an inch thick on my face, left it on for an hour and it was intense! It literally felt like a workout for my face. I had to be extremely careful when taking it off, though because it felt like the mask had adhered to my skin before hardening. I rubbed Cetaphil to soften it, then gently patted a washcloth dipped in warm water until it fell off in clumps. Then before going to bed, I spread a liberal amount of my Glominerals Renew Serum (Glostore.com.ph) and when I woke up, I was like, “What zits?”
