MANILA, Philippines - In two weeks, summer officially packs its bags, stows its swimwear and flounces off to a neighborhood with a more benevolent atmospheric temperament.
That means: vacay’s over, bitches.
Toss aside the lightweight polo shirts and shorts ensemble for lightweight polo shirts and pants. Add some parkas to the mix if the weather refuses to cooperate.
Take Lyle & Scott, the Scottish label debuted its latest collection of apparel: color-blocked parkas, striped polos, flecked jacquard knits and pastel marl sweatshirts.
Born in 1874, the label originally made its name manufacturing women’s knit undergarments, later expanding their knitwear range to include a line of cashmere knits in collaboration with Christian Dior. In the ’60s, Lyle & Scotts’ eagle crest came to symbolize the epitome of golf apparel, earning them a Royal Warrant by appointment of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in the mid-’70s. (The duke was fond of their lambswool sweaters.)
Today, the label has reinvented itself, recently re-launched only this year with a retro-inspired collection, culling elements from their archive to combat even the bluest of Mondays.
