Vagina Demagogue
MANILA, Philippines - So a couple of months ago, feminist and celebrated author of The Beauty Myth Naomi Wolf discovered that her, um, climaxing was no longer reaching the same heights as they did before. Upon further investigation, she discovered that it was because of a pinched nerve that had worsened over time. After undergoing spinal surgery where a 14-inch metal plate was implanted in her back, she found her reason for living once more. The result of this sexual healing is Vagina: A New Memoir, which contains concepts like the vagina-brain connection, the “Goddess array” (don’t ask), and referring to your vajayjay as a “mystical hole.” Predictably, it’s the most widely criticized book since 50 Shades and naturally, Naomi has come to defend her Vagina. Personally, we’re holding off judgment until we read the book ourselves. Who knows? Maybe she’s on to something. Or maybe her O’s are just that good and her vagina-brain connection short-circuited. please contact 725-8518 or 899-2698.
Team Grace
The relationship between US Vogue’s effervescent creative director Grace Coddington and untouchable editor in chief Anna Wintour was perfectly illustrated The September Issue: it was like a war between good and evil. Kidding aside, their collaboration over the years, while tense, will be remembered as one of fashion’s most important partnerships. Which is why we just can’t wait for Grace’s self-titled memoir to hit local bookstores because it reportedly contains details on her earlier modeling days, her personal and romantic life, and yes, her working relationship with Anna. We wonder if Grace has any upcoming TV guest spots to promote her tome — it would be a great follow-up to Tavi Gevinson’s “bitchface”
tutorial on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Art’s sake
You may have spotted photographer Charles Buenconsejo’s work in the pages of Preview, Esquire and Mega. He also took the photos used for Taken by Cars’ album “Dualist.” His work ranges from the emotive to the provocative (see the ad campaign he shot for OS Accessories), but it looks like we’ll be seeing a different side of Charles in his first solo exhibit “Reality is a Hologram” at the Big Room in Artinformal. The exhibit opened yesterday and will continue until Oct. 7.
Artinformal is located at 277 Connecticut Street, Greenhills East, Mandaluyong City. For more information,

Hipsters will have us believe that Lana Del Rey’s 28-second spot for H&M is filled with David Lynch references. Apparently scenes like her cover of Blue Velvet, a trio of bouffant-haired Lana wannabes sitting on a couch, and a “little person” (because dwarf is politically incorrect) cutting off her singing by pulling the plug on the record player, leaving her to stand around uncomfortably, are all are weird scenarios inspired by Lynch's short-lived TV series Twin Peaks, while Blue Velvet is the title of his 1986 film. Cult films? Pop culture? Oh, okay! References that only cool people get!
