MANILA, Philippines - Vetiver and vanilla star in two of Diptyque’s newest eau de toilette concoctions. Vetiver, or rather vetyverio, from Java, gives a fresh, exotic twist to a scent that’s neither masculine nor feminine but is most certainly reminiscent of its Asian roots. Diptyque calls their new Vetyverio eau de toilette a “one size fits all” concept, one that is also liberally sprinkled with sweet-tasting ylang ylang, slightly peppery geranium and a mix of citrus fruits: Italian mandarin orange, Florida grapefruit and Sicilian lemon.
Classic vanilla gives a cushy vibe to the brand’s haute Parisian beginnings. Found in the tropical rainforests of Mexico and Central America, and also in Madagascar and Indonesia, vanilla has long been domesticated, a baking staple, a spice meant to remind you of home. With the Diptyque’s Eau Duelle, however, vanilla becomes extraordinary again, especially combined with cardamom, pink peppercorn and saffron and “gatecrashers” black tea and calamus reed.
