To chill and be chill

I don’t know what it is about this season that keeps stress levels high, but I think we can all agree: we need to chill a li’l bit. But if those precious vacation leaves are feeling more elusive than ever (Low EQ means taking a six-day trip to Siargao, apparently), your best bet is a quick getaway to make it on time for that Monday 9 a.m. conference call. With little time to think and pack, and a cheap AirBnB just three hours away, what do you bring? Don’t worry, I got you.

Kamiliant Kanyon Spinner

True story: I was flying out of Atlanta, Georgia when a TSA agent pulled out my rollie bag from the security line. She unzips my bag, gives me a WTF face and says, “Miss, there is an extraordinary amount of cookies in this bag.” To be fair, she was right. I mean, 10 bags of Oreos does seem a little excessive. But that is the beauty of a roomy carry-on, my friends. They’re small and compact, but they pack a punch. This one from Kamiliant, the Kanyon Spinner, is not only lightweight, affordable, and durable (it’s from the Samsonite Group, after all), but it’s also got an attractive set of colors to choose from. You’ll never have to search far and wide in a conveyor belt full of black bags.

Kamiliant is available in SM Department Stores nationwide.

You by Skechers sneakers

After a week of high heels and dress shoes, our feet are the most deserving of some lovin’. Consider You by Skechers — your version of those sneakers your mom loves wearing at the airport. You can even wear them around for long walks and the occasional workout, so no need to bring an extra pair of shoes for your morning run. As for their color set, You by Skechers comes in neutral tones, so you won’t need to worry about matching it with your outfits.

Human Nature Volcanic Cooling Body Scrub

It may not be a part of your daily ritual, but regular exfoliation is a must. What better time than when you’re chilling on the tub? The Human Nature Volcanic Cooling Body Scrub is a new favorite. Aside from its mineral-rich cleansing and skin-detoxifying properties, this body scrub gives you a serious soothing effect. You won’t feel it as you scrub it on your skin, but wait after you wash it off. So even if a spa is out of the question, you’ll still feel like a million bucks.

Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream

Koreans got it right when they said that anti-aging starts when you’re young. Even if your fine lines have yet to make an appearance, best to have a skincare regimen that prepares you for the future. (Delay the inevitable, and maybe it will never happen…) The Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream is certainly quite pricey, but it definitely delivers on its many promises. (Pro tip: this is a great suggestion for your clueless godparents as an early Christmas gift.) With ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Jasmonic Acid, and Beech Tree Extract, this moisturizer can lift, smoothen, firm, retexturize, and moisturize your skin. Because if there’s anything that should be hardworking on this vacation, it’s not you.

Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes in Almond Pink

If you ever need to venture out of your hotel room/AirBnB/bedroom for lunch or dinner, a full face of makeup might be out of the question. If you just need a quick way to freshen up before pigging out (No judgment!!!) a swipe of color on your lips might just do the trick. The Maybelline Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nude in Almond Pink is a universally flattering shade. Not quite nude, not quite pink, this will look good, even with a complete bare face. Plus, it’s got great staying power, even after three rounds at the buffet.

Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker

Drug lords! Strippers! Miami! No, this isn’t a Channing Tatum movie, it’s a romantic suspense novel by K.A. Tucker. Going on vacation means indulging in guilty pleasures, and this book definitely hits that note. What’s great about it is the writing is actually quite good. Tucker writes very likable, flawed characters and puts her cast in unlikely but interesting situations. Fair warning: you may not want to leave the bed once you get started this one.

K.A. Tucker’s books are available at National Book Store branches nationwide.

Oishi Hi Coffee

Sigh… Monday is here again. Need something to perk you up on the go? A cup of coffee should do it. But if you’re really in a hurry, the Oishi Hi Coffee comes in a pretty convenient Tetra Pak, and with a variety of flavors too. (I like the caramel.) Sure, it’ll make you look like you’re sipping from a juice box on the line to the MRT, but at least you look cute. And really, that’s what matters.
