One step shy of cleansing your room by burning sage, take a dip into New Age territory with the revival of the ever-so-Instagram-friendly crystal pendant. Once steeped in a shroud of ballyhooed mysticism, it’s become the accessory of choice for the perennially ‘90s-obsessed Millennial who holds a Tumblr-driven reverence for anything to do with the decade of Winona and Johnny (or Kate and Johnny, depending on which camp you belong to).
Agate, quartz, druzy, lapis lazuli, turquoise — there’s no shortage of healing crystals to cure whatever ails you. Everything from heartbreak to social anxiety to the ill effects of a drunken night out (that would be Amethyst, FYI) are allegedly aided by the wearing of a crystal; preferably one dangling from the center of a leather choker or layered in rose gold waves over a threadbare tee. From a strictly aesthetic standpoint, the more organic, textured and roughly hewn the gemstone, the better.
A cursory YouTube sweep of the key words “Spencer Pratt Crystals” unearths my favorite, long-forgotten, pop-culture gem (sorry) in relation to topic.
“I know they’re not working,” a heavily adorned Pratt concedes, before cradling a giant rock to his forehead. “That’s why there’s hundreds on me right now.”
