MANILA, Philippines - Remember the good ol’ days when kids knew what to do with a pencil and a cassette tape? Or when our parents selected the wrong RPM for their records and creeped us out? Those days are far from over because the analogue culture is slowly coming out of the shadows. There’s no perfect time than now to start collecting records to pass on to your own kids.
If you’re planning on starting your own record collection, head to Satchmi’s Vinyl Day onApril 26 in Bonifacio High Street. From foot-stomping Americana to head-banging classic rock, there will be tons of new records to discover. And if you don’t have anything to play it with, the recently launched Motorino II turntable will also be available to try out. Who knows, you might possibly win one to take home.
But what’s vinyl-hunting without a good soundtrack? Local favorites Up Dharma Down, Taken by Cars, Ang Bandang Shirley and June Marieezy, to name a few, will also play at the event.
So if you’re feeling a little summertime sadness, head to Satchmi’s Vinyl Day tomorrow because according to Penny Lane from Almost Famous, “If you ever get lonely, you just go to the record store and visit your friends.â€
