MANILA, Philippines - As 2013 is shaping up to become the year of the food truck, Cucina Andare has launched a select group of young entrepreneurs to get a head start. Situated at the Glorietta Park across Makati Shangri-La, Cucina Andare (“kitchen on-the-go”) operates as the food truck market version of Mercato Centrale in BGC. All kinds of specialty and gourmet food are served in this outdoor collective every weekend, from Friday 4 p.m. to Sunday 3 a.m.
Parked are the trucks of Shawarma Bros (bro-type comfort sharwarmas with a lamb option), Chef Broosy (Filipino-Japanese fusion), Guactruck (burrito rice bowls), and Mio Gelati (homemade authentic Italian gelato), which all supply something different for anyone who’s tired of the restaurant routine. Even Q-Kebab, Brothers Burger, and The Cheese Steak Shop have also joined in with roving truck versions of their restaurants.
The clues are obvious and the hype is edible: food trucks are the next big thing. This food truck convoy will eventually get longer, so catch ‘em while the lines are still lines and not droves.
