MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine STAR and Swatch celebrate Chinese New Year once again with the Annual Chinese New Year Art Competition. This 2012, the Year of the Dragon, it is entitled the “Enter the Dragon T-Shirt Competition.”
The competition is open to all. An actual T-shirt entry with a dragon design should be submitted using a Swatch watch as an inspiration. Chris Jasler, creative director of Pinoy stylish jeans called Jail Jeans, which is sold at the Inhabit Fashion Boutique in Singapore, has made a dragon denim shirt as an example for this competition. He had intricately sewn on black appliqué denim cut-out, pieces of Swatch watch fragments, bugle beads and silver studs to form a feisty dragon head. His sample creation “Time to Unite” was inspired by the Swatch New Gent Black Lacquered watch and he explains his design: “each piece of watch fragment symbolizes different timelines of different generations, while the colors symbolize different races in forming a dragon figure, which to me, represents the year 2012. Let us all unite in the Year of the Dragon.”
Join now and win cash prizes or Swatch gift certificates and a Swatch Year of the Dragon watch. Also get a chance for you and your family and friends who were born in the Year of the Dragon to be a part of the culminating, grand Dragon Ball celebration.
