MANILA, Philippines - Celebrate music, arts and nature at the Malasimbo Festival on Feb. 18 and 19 (coinciding with the full moon!). The festival will be held around a natural amphitheater at the foot of Mount Malasimbo, with a breathtaking view of Puerto Galera Bay, a member of the worldwide Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World.
The festival aims to blend traditional and contemporary arts and culture together with music performances while working towards the protection and sustainability of the natural environment.
The music program will feature live performances of local and international artists in the open-air natural amphitheater. Headlining the festival is DJ Krish from Japan. Other performers include: Gongmyoung (Korea), Aquarela, Ms. Badkiss, Caliph8, Complex (Australia), Cynthia Alexander, Diwa De Leon & friends, Heavy Boogie, Julien Drolon, Kadangyan, Kristian Hernandez (UK), Liquid A, Live Filet, Mark Zero, DJ Miro (Croatia), Nomad Technology, Nyko Maca & Gafieira, Pasta Groove, Rhosam Prudenciado (dance),and Toto Delgado. Contemporary art installations by Filipino artists liks Agnes Arellano, Billy Bonnevie, Denis Lagdameo, Kawayan de Guia, Chitz Ramirez, Dondi & Grace Katigbak, Alma Quinto, Mark Salvatus, Goldie Poblador, and Maïa & Olivia d’Aboville will blend with nature.
A Mangyan village will showcase the houses of the seven different Mangyan tribes showing their indigenous art and crafts such as hand-loom weaving, basketry, ethnic jewelry, ceramic and poetry reading. The festival will offer a massage spa and a colorful eco-bazaar will showcase different products by Django, Yadu, Greater Good Apparel.
