Beautiful, breathtaking, enhancing, uplifting are just a few words to describe this single. Motorcycle is a group formed by West Coast favorites Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden with Jes who is providing the jaw-dropping vocals. You may recognize the first two names, as they are the remix team known as Gabriel & Dresden. They are one of the most sought after producer/DJ/Remixers.
“As The Rush Comes” by Motorcycle has already become something of a legendary record. After a limited amount of initial white labels started to do the rounds, the track was instantly a favorite for the biggest DJ names around the world and the crowds they play to.
Dave has committed himself 100 percent to music. His career spans every corner of the industry working as a DJ, journalist, A&R, radio music director, and producer. Dresden wrote reviews and articles for Billboard, DMA, DJ Times and Mixer. Dresden regularly contributes his A&R skills to Promo Only CD’s and its “Mainstream Club” and Alternative Club series. In addition, he scouts new music for Pete Tong’s highly influential Essential Selection radio show on the BBC Radio 1. Dresden’s wide knowledge of dance music led to the opportunity to help select songs for Nettwerk Records popular Plastic compilation series. Dresden now applies his talent and knowledge of the music in the studio, collaborating with various producers on remixes under the names Gabriel & Dresden and Attention Deficit.
Josh has been making music with computers since he was a teenager. His signature production style involves sculpting sound into musical textures, taking listeners on a journey. In the dance music world, Josh is known for his debut progressive track, Wave3, and his Gabriel & Dresden remix collaborations. Josh was also the co-founder of Mixman Technologies remixing software, responsible for the creative and technical direction of the product for 8 years. His diverse background includes positions such as mastering engineer (Disney’s “Aladdin” soundtrack), sound designer (Oddworld video games), and training engineer for Sonic Solutions editing systems at Warner Brother’s Films, Sony Music, and Disney Studios. Josh plays keyboards, drums, and bass. He has an undergraduate degree in music composition from California Institute of the Arts and has studied at the Institute of Sonology in Den Hague, The Netherlands.
Jes has spent her entire life perfecting her musical craft. She was singing in musicals throughout her childhood, and by the age of 16, she was making her first vocal recordings as a reference vocalist and back up singer for several artists with major recording labels. Jes has been writing lyrics, music, and producing original tracks ever since. Jes plays keyboard, guitar, and has graced several bands with a variety of influences including alternative rock, pop, and underground dance music. She has collaborated with such artists as Deepsky, D Fuse, and Solarstone, and was included on Paul Van Dyke’s acclaimed 2001 Ministry of Sound compilation called Politics Of Dancing. For five years, Jes has been touring nationally with her own band called JES, and she has performed live with bands and DJ’s all over the world. “Singing is like breathing to me; I don’t have to think about it. I want nothing more than to be a part of our generation of music and musicians, trying to create something beautiful, and give something back. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
Motorcycle have never performed as the Band lately, but believe me we are trying our best connections to bring them on to one night of pumping music. Though you might see Gabriel soon on one of the gigs that is lined up for 2009? When ? stay tuned to Beat generation to find out.
