While the Body Shop is best known for its body butters, tea tree products and fruity fragrances, in its makeup line youll find products that are easy to apply, fun to experiment with and versatile enough to blend seamlessly with the rest of your collection. Most of the colors go on sheer at first, but have enough pigment for you to layer and build up without too much effort. One thing you wont find is scary ingredients that will irritate your skin. So make it a point to embrace color this summer with the following looks.
Base: Use the Ultra-Smooth Concealer for the undereye area and the Ultra-Smooth Face Base Foundation to even skin tone. Set with loose powder.
Eyes: Brighten up your eyes by sweeping a light pink eye shadow over the entire lid, all the way up to the brow bone. For contour, apply Damson Eye Color (a deep plum with golden sparkles), extending slightly past the crease of the lid. Line your eyes with French Navy Eye Definer in addition to subtly defining your eye shape, it also contains vitamin E and marula nut oil for smoother application, so it wont tug at the delicate skin around your eyes. When youre done applying eye colors, blend them well for a more sophisticated look. Finally, set with loose powder to give your makeup staying power.
Cheeks: Brushing on Body Shop Cheek Color in Golden Pink on the apples of the cheeks produces a slightly flushed effect that wont overwhelm your whole face.
Lips: Apply lip color in Sheer Pink. Use a lip brush for best results (itll last longer). Add a glossy sheen with Liquid Lip Color in Blush Pink.
Base: Even out skin tone with Pencil Cream Concealer, then use Ultra Smooth Face Base Foundation for more coverage. Polish it off with Brilliance Powder in Matte Bronze. Use a large fluffy brush to dust bronzer on the lower part of the cheekbone. You might want to apply this product sparingly at first and then build it up to highlight your bone structure. Set with Brilliance Powder in Matte Bronze
Eyes: Sweep Eye Shimmer Gold all over the lid and all the way up to the brow bone. Use Eyeshadow in Golden Paprika on the lid up to the crease. Blend thoroughly. Define your eyes with Brown Liquid Eyeliner on the upper and lower lash lines, and add drama with Volumizing Mascara.
Cheeks: Instead of a flushed pink blush, enhance what you already have with Brush-on Bronze on cheeks and a few dabs of Tinted Glow Enhancer on your cheekbones.
Lips: Using a lip brush, apply Beech Nut lipstick. Layer Liquid Lip Color in Golden Coral for a glossy finish.
Base: Cover imperfections with Pencil Cream Concealer, then with a foundation sponge or wedge apply Utra Smooth Face Base Foundation where necessary. Dust Bruch On Bronze on your cheekbones and where the sun would naturally hit your face.
Eyes: Dust Eye Shimmer in Emerald (a shimmery iridescent pale green) all over the lid and brow bone. (Tip: makeup artists recommend layering this over black eye shadow or liner to produce an especially striking dark green.) Follow with Eyeshadow in Peacock Green, a versatile dark teal shade that works on the crease, as a liner or even on the lid. Here its used for a contouring effect. Line the upper and lower lash lines with Black Liquid Eye Liner.
Cheeks: Get a matte peachy-rose glow by brushing on Cheek Colour in Tea Rose. For some extra sparkle, apply Brilliance Powder Bronze all over the face.
Lips: Lips can go either way here. For a bolder look, apply Lip Color in Mahogany. If you feel a strong lip might overwhelm your face, use Lip Color in Nude and top it with Liquid Lip Color in Golden Coral, a shimmery gloss with copper sparkles thats bound to become a staple in your makeup kit.
Base: To conceal dark circles under the eyes, dab a small amount of Lightening Touch to the undereye area. This is a creamy liquid concealer for the undereye area that reflects light while also blending easily into the skin, so you dont have to worry about that reversed raccoon-eye highlighting effect. For the rest of the face, first use Pencil Cream Concealer to even out skin tone. For extra coverage, apply All-in-One 2-way Powder Face Base with a damp foundation sponge, then blend well with your fingers to warm up the product.
Eyes: Borrow cool blues from the palette of Art Deco, the era that epitomized high glamour, sleek design and endless interpretations of chrome. Blue eye shadow looks best on those with very fair or very dark skin, but if you fall in between those two shades, blending properly is crucial. Dust a light layer of Sky Blue and Ocean Blue eye shadow as a wash, blending from the lid with upward strokes towards the brow bone. Then sweep Eye Shimmer #07 Indigo on the lids, working your way up to the crease of the eye only. (Shimmer is key here, as it prevents the eyelids from looking flat and dull remember, matte blue eye shadow is universally unflattering.) For this look, stay away from harsh black eyeliner. Line eyes with a soft blue French Navy Eye Definer instead and youre all set.
Cheeks: Dust Cheek Color in Heather Pink on the apples of your cheeks for a pop of color. This matte pink blush provides a light, natural flush with staying power.
Lips: Apply Lip Color Soft Red, a satin lipstick that glides on smoothly. This solid red can be toned down with gloss, if necessary.
