The Omega Cup: A soaring success

Omega recently launched its latest line of watches, the Constellation Double Eagle, via a special event dubbed The Omega Cup in Rancho Palos Verdes, Davao City. At the reception dinner, held at the Marco Polo Davao Hotel, Oliver Hugentobler, sales and marketing project manager of Omega who flew in from Switzerland, said "As a sport of character, golf is the perfect event for a watch manufacturer like Omega to be involved in. The prestigious Swiss brand is one of the few watchmakers in the world to boast of a history and tradition that can compete with the noble sport of golf."

The ceremonial tee off was led by Oliver Hugentobler, Mike Luna, Martin Lacson, Lucy Torres Gomez and Atty. Antonio Cabreros. The new Omega Double Eagle Constellation was launched with the special participation of the Philippine Eagle Malagos Garden. Soaring high up above the sunny sky, the eagle which carried the new Omega Double Eagle Constellation landed right smack on center stage! Such an innovative way to launch a timepiece!

At the event, it was pleasant to find out how the local celebrities value time, especially with their busy schedules.

Martin Lacson

Which era do you wish you were born in?

Now, because I am here.

Martin Nievera

If you could turn back time, which decade would you choose?

Hmmm…not the ‘70s for sure with the bell bottoms. Forget it. I’d rather go back to the time when crooners were kings, which is the ‘50s, because if we went back that far we could have another chance to reset the present and promise ourselves a brighter tomorrow.

Dingdong Dantes

What qualities do you look for in a timepiece?

I look for elegance and versatility. It’s good if it looks expensive and is suitable for any occasion.

Jomari Yllana

What sports would you teach your daughter to achieve a high level of recognition?

I’d teach her golf since we only have a few professional international female golfers which would give her a bigger chance to shine if she makes it.

Richard Gomez

What makes a timepiece an heirloom?

It begins with fine craftsmanship. A timepiece needs to have an outstanding and accurate movement. It also needs to have unique and functional design.

Lucy Torres Gomez

When do you wish time would stop?

When I am completely happy and everything is all right in my direct circle of life. I wish time would stop so that perfect moments will not have to be so fleeting or temporary.

Oliver Hugentobler

How much time would you devote towards your favorite sports?

Since I am a working man, as much as time permits until I’m satisfied.

Ogie Alcasid

How did golf shape your personality?

Golf is the ultimate gentleman’s sport since it encourages humility.
