Ateneo Junior Marketing Assocation presents Shindig 2003: The Mardi Gras

Groove Nation, Smart, Technomarine, Jag and Sari-Sari began the year of parties with the Mardi Gras experience featuring Toti Dalmacion and Cyril last Jan. 18 at the Manansala Carpark of Rockwell Center. The event, billed as Shindig 2003: The Mari Gras, was organized by the Ateneo Junior Marketing Association (AJMA).

Throughout the world, the Mardi Gras or "Fat Tuesday" is celebrated by millions of fun-seekers every year. Mardi Gras has been celebrated in New Orleans on a grand scale, with masked balls and colorful parades since French settlers arrived. Hidden behind masks, people behaved so raucously that for decades masks were deemed illegal in that party-loving city. Costumed paraders take over the scene. The most lavish get-ups and wild makeup fill the streets. People do outrageous things to catch the most beads. Others give up on the costume ploy altogether, finding that taking clothes off can be the quickest attention-getter.

The AJMA presented a night of non-stop dancing with Brazilian Party girls, and visual feasts with amazing acts of stilt walkers, acrobats and fire eaters. Sari-Sari had a fashion show directed by G.P. Reyes with make-up by Shiseido. Treat yourself to free-flowing drinks. Join the frivolity by wearing beads and masks to be thrown off. One lucky party-goer went home as a proud owner of a new Technomarine watch!
