Jean-eration Levi's

Inspired by the cheerfulness of flower children, the philosophy of hippie culture, and the flattering fit of retro sportswear, Levi's launches its Spring-Summer 2002 collection with ties that echo the past, finding inspiration from the rocking 1970s.

And though the seventies, for us at least, meant the darkest days under the tyrant Ferdinand E. Marcos and his Martial Law, Levi's celebrates the good of the era, when the benign abuse of rock and roll and hippie culture were at its peak. Benign abuse is, in fact, what the new line of Levi's jeans endured, having been scraped, blasted and "whiskered" to achieve that innovative, nostalgic bleached effect.
