I Want to Watch That Now!

What did the VCD creators of this planet have in mind…"Let’s copy their stuff, mass produce it, and make damn good money." Sorry to the hard-core anti-piracy movement fanatics out there, but it’s brilliant. Simply brilliant.

THE GOOD NEWS.

The good thing about VCDs is that you no longer have to wait for that much-anticipated movie to be shown on the silver screen. You can watch it…now! No more queuing, finally.

And here’s the better thing…they’re cheap! The pirated ones, that is. And we all know, cheap is good, right? And they’re everywhere, too. Another thing is that VCDs can be played on almost all CD players from stand alone players, DVD, PlayStations, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, to CD-ROMs.

THE BAD NEWS.

* You’ll have to deal with the occasional laughter from the audience who are not really there, making you miss the punch line of the actor.

* You’ll be bothered by a round or oval shape from the bottom center of the screen.

* The actors heads are sometimes cut-off from the screen.

* Sound is often muffled and may require you to focus with your ears more than with your eyes.

* More importantly, the worst fear of movie studios has been realized: VCD movie encryption has been broken.

Hell I won’t even get into that!

People don’t seem to mind all these anyway. Well, some copies aren’t all that bad. The pirated ones, I meant. And they’re really, really addicting. You buy one, you’ll keep buying again and again. That’s the bad thing about piracy. Piracy really gets to you.
