MANILA, Philippines - City Garden Grand, the newly-opened four-star property of the City Garden portfolio, announced the appointment of Laurence Peña as the new general manager.
Peña started out cashiering for several restaurants and hotels before assuming the front office position at the Heritage Hotel. In 1999, he joined the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai as guest services manager of the pre-opening team. He worked in front office reservations, cashiering, auditing and running the rooms division of Jumeirah International.
After seven years, he came back to the Philippines to assume the assistant front office manager position at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, and was quickly promoted to front office manager. He later joined the Sofitel Philippine Plaza as director of rooms, then worked as executive assistant manager at Acacia Hotel Manila in 2011 and the F1 Hotel for his first general manager stint. He also held dual positions as product development manager and general manager of Camaya Sands Resort and Leisure.
“Our property specifically targets a new breed of business and leisure travelers who pursue style, comfort and first-class facilities. City Garden Grand has taken the 4-star hotel experience up a notch,” said Peña.
