MANILA, Philippines - Even bigger and crazier deals are being prepared by the Travel Madness organizers, sponsors and exhibitors for the 2013 edition than what the tourism market ever thought possible during last year’s event.
“The Travel Madness 2012 offered incredible discounts that made exhibitors and visitors appear selling and buying like mad, gobbling up practically all the airline tickets and tour packages offered at bargain sale, including all other related products and services available. So for 2013, we are living up to this brand of madness by preparing promos and discounts that may go even beyond what madness means,†said president Raymond Tee of event organizer Travel Innovators Inc., a national organization of travel and tourism firms.
“Indeed, the Travel Madness Expo 2013 will get you on your feet and head off to the SMX Convention Center without having to know exactly what to expect,†Tee excitedly said.
Travel Innovators vice president Pat Alberto said Tee was referring to “unconventional promotional offers†from the world’s leading airlines, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and resorts, theme parks, international event venues, national tourism offices, lifestyle shopping centers, malls and various tourism establishments, including global network and service providers, banks and other financial institutions, among many others.
“Our primary thrust is to break our own record in 2012 when Travel Madness posted industry highs in market sales, attendance, participation and business volume across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry,†Alberto said, citing the more than 40,000 visitors and guests who swarmed the event last year.
“So we are now moving heaven and earth happily and enthusiastically to top that (record), with both sponsors and exhibitors eagerly supporting us to keep the unprecedented success of Travel Madness phenomenal,†Alberto added.
She said the aggregate sales registered by the exhibitors “also went beyond madness,†with one international credit card company alone generating P20 million worth of business during the event’s three-day run. “That amount did not include the number of new credit card holder signups,†she said.
“Thus, the event was able to attain its goal of perking up the industry’s business during the lean season through advance orders and bookings at huge volumes,†she added, also attributing the feat to the strong and long-standing relations of its organizers with all the sectors of the industry, both national and international.
“This time, however, it’s the market driving the travel industry for more discounted tour packages as proven possible by Travel Madness 2012. So now the industry players have been booking for booth space for the July 12-14 Travel Madness 2013 right after the expo in 2012,†Alberto said.
The organizer, Travel Innovators, constitutes a key sector of IATA agents who are supported by global service providers and all the major foreign and domestic airlines that ply international routes worldwide.
The airlines enjoyed brisk sales at the Travel Madness 2012. So did the global service providers, travel and tourism destinations and the rest of the exhibitors, including embassies and consulates, all registering a phenomenal success during the event.
“For 2013, we are determined to make the Travel Madness Expo even bigger and better, with three of the four exhibition halls of the SMX providing the space for the huge number of industry players and consumers who have been left out in the previous event,†Alberto said.
