MANILA, Philippines - The taste of sliced raw fish, often dipped in wasabi-flavored soy sauce, is one of the freshest in the world. If you have always been a fan of Japanese food, then indulge in your favorite sushi at Wafu’s Sushi Festival ongoing until March 31.
At lunchtime, guests who avail themselves of the Sushi Festival menu get 30 percent discount on their orders. And if you happen to be a holder of Wafu’s Elite card, then you get an additional 20 percent off on your meal and 50 percent off on Ala Carte Sushi.
The Sushi Festival features a variety of donburi (rice bowls) and bento (Japanese boxed lunch meal) sets. All donburi orders are served with fresh rolls, miso soup, salad and fresh fruits. Bento sets come with the same side dishes and a special appetizer.
There are a variety of donburi to choose from.
There are three kinds of Chirashidon on the menu. Chirashidon is a bowl of sushi rice topped with sashimi. The Premium Chirashidon comes with slices of tuna (tekka), salmon (shake), yellowtail (hamachi), octopus (tako) and squid (ika) plus sea urchin roe (uni).
The regular Chirashidon comes in two varieties: the traditional Japanese-style serving (Chirashidon) with sliced tuna, salmon, yellowtail, freshwater eel (unagi) and egg omelet (tamago) plus cooked prawn (ebi); and a Western-style serving with chunks of tuna, salmon, squid, egg omelet, shrimp and avocado.
Those who prefer just sliced fish can choose from Shakedon (salmon), Tekkadon (tuna), Spicy Shakedon (chopped salmon in spicy seasoning), Spicy Tekkadon (chopped tuna in spicy seasoning), Smoked Salmon, and Poke Tekkadon (tuna chunks with egg omelet, avocado and onion slices).
For a more filling meal, choose the sushi bento set. There are four sets to choose from: the Mackerel and Maki Bento comes with grilled mackerel and a spicy tuna roll, and the Nigiri and Tempura Bento with shrimp tempura and a selection of sushi and spicy tuna roll.
If you want an-all sushi lunch, there are two bento choices. The Matsu Nigiri Bento comes with a selection of premium sushi (tuna, salmon, shrimp, squid and sea urchin) and a tuna roll. The Take Nigiri Bento comes with a selection of regular sushi (tuna, salmon, mackerel, squid and shrimp) and a tempura roll.
