Manila, Philippines - Luglugan, a Maytime tradition of the youth of Lipa, was revived recently with a Flores de Mayo held at the Plaza Independencia in Lipa City. This was held in celebration of the National Heritage Month.
Art patron Danny Dolor together with businessman Joel Peña and City Cultural Affairs officer Aylene Acorda spearheaded the revival.
Some 100 sagalas with their escorts from different barangays took part in the celebration.
Lipa City Mayor Meynard Sabili and wife Bernadette, and Councilor Avior Rocafort, chair of Lipa Culture & Arts Council, extended full support to the revival.
Fr. Wilfredo Rosales of the Parish of Our Lady Mary Mediatrix of All Grace led the opening prayers.
Thousands of Lipeños joined the affair never seen in Lipa for a long time.
