MANILA, Philippines - Year 2010 sees the New World Hotel Makati City, Manila turning a new leaf. For starters, it is now being run under the New World Hotels umbrella. Under this management, plans are already being set into motion to rebrand and reposition the hotel as among the five-star hotels of choice in Metro Manila.
“We are basically taking the hotel to the next level. Our previous management company has done a fantastic job with the hotel over the years. With New World Hotels, we are raising the bar even higher. We are pleased with the positive feedback that we have been receiving from both loyal patrons and new guests,” says New World Hotel general manager Farid Alain Schoucair.
“People like the hotel because of its location, the product, and the way they are being treated. It is this mixture of various factors that creates the New World experience. That, for me, is really amazing,” Schoucair says.
He reveals that the New Year will see the New World Hotel Makati City strengthening its infrastructure, as well as its food and beverage offerings. Fact is, the forthcoming Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day — both happening on Feb. 14 — allow the hotel to showcase its exceptional products and services.
The Chinese restaurant Jasmine is preparing special fine Cantonese cuisine for the New Year. Manned by Chinese chefs, Jasmine enjoys a solid reputation in the market with new items being introduced every month.
“Chef Choi has come up with very special family dishes,” Schoucair remarks. Among those on offer is the ultimate 18 Treasure Chest, that is, 18 ingredients in a single dish. He proudly declares that it is the only one of its kind in the Philippines.
On Valentine’s Day, the New World Hotel will be presenting Precious Love, consisting of special packages for couples. New World’s director of communications Monique Toda says the packages will include jewelry as Valentine’s gifts.
“It is the complete Valentine’s Day package. It is very elegant and tastefully presented. We help you do away with shopping for gifts altogether because our package has everything,” Toda says. “Dining settings will be put up. If you like, you can watch the dragon dance at Jasmine at 1 p.m. and then go back and dine for Valentine’s.”
Schoucair adds that their “casual yet elegant” restaurant Bocarinos will be holding its own exciting event come Feb. 14. “There will be a cooking auction. The restaurant will go to the highest bidder. So we will close Bocarinos for you, give you your own musicians, table set-up, and chef to cook for you. If you want to impress someone, this is the place,” he quips.
Of course, New World Hotel has other F&B outlets in store: Morning to Midnight (M2M) with its continental, local, and Asian buffet specialties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Cinnabar with its cocktails and light snacks; and Splash Pool Bar & Grill with its grilled items and drinks.
The hotel boasts of 598 deluxe rooms and suites with complete state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. Four upper floors are dedicated executive floors for the discriminating business and leisure travelers. Non-smoking and special guestrooms are likewise available.
New World Hotel is also known for its ballroom, boardrooms, and meeting facilities. All these are slated for upgrades this year.
“This is all very exciting for us,” Schoucair says. “It is our first year under the banner of New World and already we are enjoying the support of our corporate office and guests who, may I add, can look forward to a loyalty card real soon. All these developments are already making us upbeat.” We are sure New World Hotel’s guests are feeling the excitement, too.
